Spencer: a 2020 SAMPS Scholarship Recipient

My name is Spencer and I am in my final year of medical school at the University of Calgary. I am originally from a small town in Ontario and moved out to Alberta for medical school.

I have always loved working with and getting to know people, which is what led me to medicine. I have absolutely loved my time spent in medical school so far and am really looking forward to my future career as a physician.

I learned about the SAMPS scholarship through my school’s advising office, who do an amazing job at making students aware of all opportunities available. Having a father affected with myeloma has been a difficult journey, especially living far from home, but it is incredible organizations like yours that keep families connected and provide support to patients.

Medical school is an expensive journey, and this scholarship will go a long way in supporting me through it. Thank you so much for your generosity in establishing and funding this scholarship!
